    Road Side Placement

The LVFB will install roadside signs in accordance with St Louis County ordinance # 41.

    Lakeside Placement

Please contact the LVFB if you have any input into where the sign is to be placed on your property. The LVFB will install lakeside signs following these guidelines:
      • All signs must contain a red background with white numbering and shall be of a reflective material.
      • The bottom of a sign shall be no less than 4' above the level of the high water mark.
      • The sign post shall be placed within 10' of the dock access.
      • When the primary structures are accessed by waterway, the address signs shall be installed parallel to the shoreline not more than 10 feet from the high water mark.
      • Signs must be installed on a proper post or boat house.
      • The responsibility for sign maintenance belongs with the landowner.  Signs must be visible all year where signs are free from snow, foliage or damage.
      • For further information contact the St. Louis County 9-1-1 communications dept. at 218-726-2920

        Installation Do Not's

      • DO NOT post perpendicular to the lake.  Lakeside signs are meant to be posted and visible from the lake.
      • DO NOT attach signs to trees, utility poles, or docks.
