Norwegian Point Prescribed Fire

On May 17th and 18th, Brigade operators joined US Forest Service personnel for a prescribed fire on Norwegian Point.  The purpose of the burn was to reduce fuel loading and the potential for future wildfires. Heavy fuel loading from dead and live balsam trees was burned. The LVFB was hired to provide equipment and personnel transfer to and from the site, as well as to suppress any fire that should spread beyond the area of prescription. Nearby large red and white cedar and white spruce were sprayed to decrease the fire intensity and to prevent those beautiful old-growth trees from burning.
